The epicenter of the quake was a depth of 10km and about 125km south of the shoreline, according to the agency.

The quake was not expected to trigger a tsunami, the agency said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties after the quake.

In the aftermath of the quake, severe damages were reported throughout the island. More than 6,000 structures were damaged or destroyed throughout Maluku.
