As of 5pm on 1 April 2020, of those hospitalized in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 2,921 have died.
The figures on deaths relate to patients who have died in hospital and who have tested positive for COVID-19. These figures do not include deaths outside hospital, such as those in care homes.
Among those killed in the pandemic was a 13-year-old boy.
68-year-old Nigerian-born doctor Alpha Sa'adu dead due to the virus.
Earlier, Muslim doctors Amged al-Hawrani (55), Habib Zaidi (76) and Adil Al-Tayar (63) died due to Covid-19.
In a letter to every household in the country on March 29, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “We know things will get worse before they get better. But we are making the right preparations, and the more we all follow the rules, the fewer lives will be lost and the sooner life can return to normal.”
“That is why, at this moment of national emergency, I urge you, please, to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives,” he added. (ILKHA)
