The number of deaths from coronavirus surges in France

The number of deaths from coronavirus pandemic has risen to 1,696 in France, said the country’s Health Minister Jeremo Salomon on Friday.

The minister reported 365 new coronavirus cases over past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 1,696.

A 16-year-old girl was among those who lost their lives, becoming France's youngest-ever person to die from the virus.

While 13,904 people were hospitalized, 3,375 of them were in a serious condition needing life support. (ILKHA)
