The army described it as a terrorist attack, in a post on Twitter, but no group yet claimed responsibility for the attack on the army post in Indelimane, in the Menaka region, on Friday.
“The dispatched reinforcements found 54 bodies including one civilian, 10 survivors, and found considerable material damage. The situation is under control," government spokesperson Yaya Sangare said in the early hours of Saturday.
This attack is one of the deadliest assaults against the West African country’s military in recent memory. (ILKHA)
