Stating that Palestinian society needs security forces protecting the Palestinian people, not the occupation regime, Assaf called for an end to the political detentions that have ravaged Palestinian society.

Assaf pointed to the importance of ending the agreements between the Abbas administration and the occupation regime, especially security coordination, and said that unless the mindset of Mahmoud Abbas' administration changes, security coordination will not cease.

"Israel is trying to portray the Abbas administration as a collaborationist and self-employed security force," Assaf said, noting that the occupying zionists and Palestinian Authority security units are asking the same questions to those detained.

Assaf said the policy had no benefit for Palestine and the Palestinians, and explained that security coordination only served the occupation regime.

Assaf noted that the security situation in the West Coast was regrettable; saying that they followed the political detentions and that the court process eventually resulted in an acquittal.

Assaf pointed out that the charges against those detained for political reasons are not legal and said the occupation regime wants Palestinians to remain divided. (ILKHA)
