Susa-Der [Susa Association] organized an event in the village of Susa (Yolaç) in Silvan district of Diyarbakır, a southeastern province of Turkey, on the anniversary of the martyrdom of 10 Muslims who were shot and killed in the mosque by the PKK in 1992. The public attended the event intensively.
Muslims worshipped in the mosque of Susa (Yolaç) village in Silvan, district of Diyarbakır, were shot by the PKK in the village mosque after the night prayer on 26 June 1992, while 10 Muslims were killed in the massacre, and 5 others wounded.
The pain of the brutal massacre perpetrated by the PKK group, who raided the village by wearing military clothes, was not forgotten despite the last 27 years.
Many people from various cities of Turkey participated in the commemoration event held in Susa village on the 27th anniversary of the massacre.
People who came to the village with takbirs and salawats visited the graves of martyred Muslims first, prayed there.
Here, by telling the life-story of the martyrs' self, important sections of their lives were presented. Afterward, a visit was made to the mosque where the massacre took place.
The visitors were also informed with sections related to the massacre. As the massacre was described, it was seen that people could not hold tears.
Despite the extreme heat, visitors who did not leave the event area frequently said takbirs within the program flow. During the story of the massacre, the PKK was cursed. The commemoration program began after the afternoon prayer, which was performed in the cemetery with the community.
"We will fulfill our promise on the path of the martyrs"
The program began with the reading of Surah Yasin. Then, addressing the participants, İttihad'ul Ulama Member [Union of Scholars] Mullah Beşir Şimşek emphasized that the way to have the heritage of the martyrs is to live like a martyr.
"We are once again in the graveyard of the martyrs, Susa, we are here. May Allah's mercy be upon our saints and martyrs. Allah Almighty reward them with paradise. Let us be rewarded from their good and from the ways of Allah," he said.
Reading two different verses from al-Qur'an, "Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise," (Al-Qur'an, al-Tawbah 111) and "Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration." (Al-Qur'an, al-Ahzab 23), Mullah Beşir Şimşek noted that the believers never return from their words.
"Those who fulfilled their promise were martyred like the blessed martyrs of Susa. They did their duties, their communications, and they handed over the trust [soul]."
"The caravan of truth and martyrdom works for the correction of people"
"The caravan of martyrs has not departed today. This caravan of truth has departed since the day when mankind came down to earth." Şimşek said.
"The caravan of martyrs set out with the caravan of truth. This caravan started from Abel. Alhamdulillah, we have taken our place in the caravan. This caravan of truth is a blessing of Allah."
"The prophets of Allah joined this caravan, also great scholars. The people joined in the caravan of the martyrs, such as Hamza and Hussein, and many companions such as Sumeyye, Yasir and Hanzala became martyrs. Hanzala was married the day before but martyred the next day, joined to the caravan. Our saints, such as Sheikh Said, Abdulkadir Molla, Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, Sayyid Qutb, Hasan al-Banna, Sheikh Zeki, took part in this caravan and served Islam. They have fulfilled their promise to their Lord."
"Why did they become martyrs, what did they do?"
"Let us look at the martyrs of Susa? Why did they become martyrs, what did they do? They were martyred. Why did they expose this persecution?" Şimşek asked.
"10 saints were lecturing Islam in the mosque of Susa village. They warned each other on the Qur'an and the Sunnah."
"They desired that Allah's law reign over this land. People be brothers. Keep the honor and chastity of these lands. They were reading and telling about the religion of Allah. They read and tell what the Qur'an says. They were reading the life of prophet and telling people, they were teaching Qur'an to children."
"They did not extend their hands to the property of other people, nor did them intent to shed the blood of other people. They only served to Allah."
"They served to lift the darkness of disbelief and enlighten the light of the Qur'an. Were they had any crime apart from there?"
"Those who martyred those Muslims in the mosque actually fired their bullets targeting the house of Allah. They targeted their bullets to the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet. They wanted people to lose their dignity and demanded the persecution to continue. They were serving for blasphemy. They did not want the light." (ILKHA)
