Vladimir Zelenskiy, a jewish-born actor and comedian, won the presidential election in Ukraine.
According to poll results, Zelenskiy became the new head of state with 72.7 percent of the vote.
Ukraine's president Petro Poroshenko won 27.3 percent of the vote.
The Ukrainian people, seeking change due to economic problems, corruption and the atmosphere of conflict with Russia in the eastern part of the country, chose Zelenskiy as the new president of the Republic, who has no political experience.
Zelenskiy, 41, graduated from the National Economy University of Kiev, carried his election campaign based on that his opponent Poroshenko had failed to fulfill his promises during his term of office. (ILKHA)
