Brunei with the official name Daru-s Salam State [State of Peace] will implement recm penalty against gay relations and adultery as of April 3, known as the execution by stoning in Sharia provisions in the Islamic religion.
"I want to see Islamic teachings in this country grow stronger," Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah said in a public address.
According to the new law, Brunei will only convict of homosexuals/adulterers who have confessed to their relationship, or those who have engaged in a relationship that four people have witnessed.
Homosexuality was already illegal in Brunei and punishable by up to 10 years in prison while they will be stoned under the new law.
Islamic laws are gradually being implemented in the country that passed sharia in May 2014.
The country has a population of 400 thousand and has great efficiency in terms of oil resources.
The country is a former British colony that gained its independence in 1984.
70 percent of the population is Muslim Malays while 15 percent are Chinese. (ILKHA)
