Turkstat announced December 2018 inflation figures. Accordingly, on a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) was realized by 0.40 percent per month while the producer price index of domestic (Yi-PPI) decreased by 2.22.

A decrease in the general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 0.40% and rises were realized on December of the previous year by 20.30%, on the same month of the previous year by 20.30% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 16.33% in December 2018.

The highest monthly increase was 1.08% in food and non-alcoholic beverages

In December 2018, the indices rose for miscellaneous goods and services 0.78%, for health 0.62%, for hotels, cafes and restaurants 0.31% and for alcoholic beverages and tobacco 0.16%.

The highest monthly decrease was 4.08% in clothing and footwear

In December 2018, the indices declined for transportation 2.56%, for recreation and culture 0.25%, for communication 0.11% and for housing 0.06%.
 
The highest annual increase was 31.36% in furnishing and household equipment

Miscellaneous goods and services with 28.80%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 25.11%, housing with 23.73% and recreation and culture with 20.86% were the other main groups where high annual increases realized.

The highest monthly increase was 0.63% in Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır

The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TRA2 (Ağrı, Kars, Iğdır, Ardahan) region with 23.53% compared with the same month of the previous year and in TR63 (Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye) region with 18.26% on the twelve months moving averages basis.

In December 2018 within average prices of 407 items in the index, average prices of 44 items remained unchanged while average prices of 202 items increased and average prices of 161 items decreased. (ILKHA)
