The new president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars was elected. Moroccan Prof. Dr. Ahmed al-Raissouni was elected to the presidency in the election held in the General Assembly.

In the presidential election of the General Assembly of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, the Moroccan Prof. Dr. Ahmed al-Raissouni, who was assistant to Youssef al-Qaradawi during his presidency, was elected as new president of the union. Thus, al-Raissouni became the second President of the Union.

Youssef al-Qaradawi, who has been serving as president since 2004, announced before that he would not be a candidate. (ILKHA)
