Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (TURK-IS) has shared its "hunger and poverty" survey in September of this year with the public.

According to the outputs of the research prepared by TÜRK-İŞ, the monthly food expenditure (limit of hunger) of a family composed of 4, to get a healthy, balanced and sufficient nutrition, has increased to 1.893,21 Turkish Liras.

When compulsory expenditures for clothing, rent, electricity, water, and heating are added to the food expenditures, the limit of poverty reaches 6,166,81 Turkish Liras.

One-month increase in kitchen inflation was 4.45 percent, while the monthly cost of living of a person calculated as 2,313 TL.

"The food prices continued to increase at the end of the first six months of 2018," said TURK-IS while pointed to the labels began to change almost every day. "The subsistence conditions of the narrow and fixed-income segments were unbearable, and the amount of the subsequent increase in wage incomes was insufficient to cover the required expenditures," it said.
