International Help Organization Pro Orphans, which became popular for the humanitarian aid work in dozens of countries around the world, continues to mobilize aid. Pro Orphan Association has launched a new campaign under the urgent need "Clean Package and Tent Village" project.
Following the emergence of serious infectious diseases as a result of the monsoon rains in the region and reaching the point where the hygiene standards have been reached, Pro-Orphan Association initiated a "Cleaning Package" campaign for Arakanese refugees. The cost of the package containing the cleaning products required for a refugee family determined as EUR5 by the association.
While the monsoon rains in the region continue for days, the refugees who live in rural areas in the rain have problems of shelter and hygiene in the region as a result of insufficient facilities. While the continuity of the rains increased the risk of epidemics; adults, as well as children, began to struggle with diseases.
In order to set up a new tent village for the refugees who are struggling to survive in unhealthy conditions, the campaign initiator will also provide medication support in the camps.
Hüseyin Ateş, Vice President of International Help Organization Pro Orphans [Avrupa Yetim-Der], stated that they decided to establish a second tent village due to high demand and urgent need following the setup of the Tent Village Project a few months earlier, which includes mosques.
A small mosque also was opened in the Tent village where at least 8-members of 85 Arakanese families were settled in the Tent Village. One of the masjids was named Cevzet Soysal, who was executed in 1998 by FETO.
Sharing the knowledge that humanitarian aid activities for Arakanese people will continue, Ateş stated that they would send delegations to the region to deliver donated aid to the Arakanese people who took refuge in Bangladesh.
