Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak went to France to have official contacts. Minister Albayrak met with the France Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire. A joint press conference was held after about an hour of talk.
Le Maire said they have discussed the unjust US sanctions against Turkiye and Europe.
Minister Albayrak said that they had a decision to act jointly with France regarding the US sanctions.
Minister Albayrak criticized U.S. economic sanctions against the Turkish economy, saying that they have the potential to cause instability in the region, which could in turn feed terrorism and the refugee crisis.
"The moves by the U.S. are isolating it from its allies; the dollar is losing its status as a global trade tool," warned Albayrak.
He also said that Turkiye wants to boost trade with France from 14 billion euros to 20 billion euros while using bilateral currencies or the euro instead of the U.S. dollar. (ILKHA)
