Ayahs and hadiths related to Ramadan

Ramadan became fardh in the second year of Hegira, in the month of Shaban, which is fixed with the hadith and ijma.

In the Qur'an, in surah al-Baqarah, ayah 183, Allah says, “O you who believe! Fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, that you may attain salvation.”

In the same surah, in the 185th ayah, “The month of Ramadan is the month that the Qur'an was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teaching, and the statue book. Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein.”

About the month of Ramadan Prophet Muhammad has also said many hadiths. Some of the hadith narrated are as follows:

When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of heaven are opened, the gates of hell are closed, and the demons are shot in chains. (Muslim)

If a fasting person is free and does not abandon business with lies, then Allah has no need for him to abstain from drinking his food. (Buhari)

The virtues of Ramadan

Ramadan is a month in which all sorts of charities, mercies and abundances are fulfilled, in which a worship service filled with wisdom such as fasting is first performed.

The month of Ramadan is a material and spiritual decency month in which we will be cleansed from material and spiritual dirt for a year, where the warmth of human sentiments rise, the repentance and the desire to turn to the right.

Ramadan is a month for humanity, including “the night of al-Qadr, which is beneficent than a thousand months”. It is a month for those who believe, which its start is mercy, its middle is forgiveness, the end is the salvation from the fire of hell.

The Qur'an and Ramadan, the fasting month; means rain that cleans dust on the ground which rains at the end of summer months and at the beginning of the autumn season. How this rain cleanses the earth from the dust also the month of Ramadan will clear the believers from sins.

It is understood that the meanings of Ramadan are to be cleansed from sin in this month.

What is the meaning of fasting?

Fast. From the second dawn to the sunset, the worship is done by forbidding the soul from eating, drinking and sexual intercourse.

Fasting is a worship that best reflects the ikhlas feature, which is a valuable source of worship. Only Allah and that one know whether someone is fasting. Fasting is a heart-worshiping that reaches the peak of the love between the Creator and the servant.

There are things that need to be taken care of in order to realize the purpose expected from fasting. In absolute meaning fasting occurs with the participation of all organs. That is to say, as the fasting person keeps the food from eating, he should keep the language away from the lie, away from gossip, away from the bad and the empty words. They eye should not look at the sin, should not look for flaws. Do not listen to gossips and blank words. The heart should think about beautiful things.

Ramadan is the month of the Qur'an
