The military operation, which lasted approximately nine hours, was described as a "top-tier" offensive by Yemeni officials. Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced that the attack achieved its objectives, forcing the aircraft carrier to retreat to the far north of the Red Sea, leaving its designated operational zone.
This marks the fifth attack targeting the USS Harry S. Truman since its deployment in the region. According to reports from Al Mayadeen, the operation was conducted jointly by Yemen’s missile and drone forces as a direct response to what Yemeni authorities have described as Israeli-US-UK aggression against Yemen and in solidarity with Gaza's resistance.
Brigadier General Saree reiterated Yemen’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and emphasized the nation's role in opposing Israeli occupation. "Yemen is committed to its obligations towards the oppressed Palestinian nation and continues to fulfill its duties in this field," he stated.
Yemen’s actions are part of its declared stance of open support for Palestine since the Israeli regime launched a large-scale war on Gaza on October 7, following the Palestinian Resistance’s surprise operation, Al-Aqsa Storm.
The attack comes amid heightened hostilities in the region, with Yemeni forces pledging to continue their operations until Israel halts its military offensives in Gaza. These attacks have reportedly claimed the lives of at least 27,948 Palestinians and wounded over 67,459 others, according to local health sources in Gaza.
The United States and Britain announced in December the formation of a military coalition targeting Yemen in support of Israel’s operations, further fueling tensions in the region.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have warned of further escalation if U.S. or Israeli forces continue their aggression. This incident highlights the growing complexity of the conflict, with Yemen asserting its readiness to respond to any military provocation while maintaining its solidarity with Gaza.
As the situation develops, international observers are closely monitoring the region for signs of further escalation and potential responses from the U.S. and its allies. (ILKHA)
