In a statement issued on Monday, Hamas called on Palestinians to continue their uprising to break the siege on the camp and protect local resistance fighters.

Hamas criticized the PA’s security operation, which has entered its eighth day, accusing it of ignoring widespread Palestinian calls to halt the campaign. The movement emphasized that the resistance remains “the strong shield for our people, their land, and their holy sites against the occupation and its settlers.”

The statement further urged Palestinians across all regions to organize massive rallies in opposition to the PA’s operation. Hamas argued that the security campaign in Jenin “only serves the occupation army and its desperate dreams of ending the resistance in the West Bank.”

Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi also spoke out, asserting that neither Israeli military aggression nor PA security operations would stop the resistance movement. “These actions will only increase our determination to extract Palestinian rights and end the occupation,” Mardawi said.

He added that the ongoing operations in the West Bank would not provide Israel with security, stating, “The Palestinian people remain steadfast in their resistance, no matter the sacrifices.”

Mardawi further condemned the PA security forces’ activities in Jenin, calling them “reprehensible” and “unpatriotic.” He urged the PA leadership to immediately cease its campaign, which he claimed serves only Israeli interests. He also called on Palestinian national factions to take a firm stance against the events in Jenin and pressure the PA to withdraw.

For over a week, PA security forces have carried out a violent crackdown in Jenin refugee camp, reportedly targeting individuals labeled as “criminals.” However, fierce resistance from local fighters has led to growing tensions, with Hamas framing the operation as a direct attack on the Palestinian resistance movement.
