Addressing a cabinet meeting in Tehran, Pezeshkian discussed the latest developments in Syria, underscoring the importance of dialogue among diverse segments of Syrian society to build consensus. He expressed hope for an end to military conflicts and violence in the war-torn nation, creating conditions for its citizens to decide their fate peacefully and without external interference.
“It is imperative that Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity are preserved,” Pezeshkian stated. He highlighted the importance of safeguarding the security of all Syrian and foreign nationals, as well as the protection of religious and sacred sites, along with diplomatic and consular premises, in line with international law.
The Iranian president affirmed his country's commitment to diplomatic engagement, pledging continued consultations with relevant parties and collaboration with the United Nations to help stabilize Syria and ensure security in the West Asia region.
Pezeshkian’s remarks align with Iran’s longstanding position that Syria’s future must be shaped without "destructive" external influence, and that the country’s sovereignty should remain intact amidst the ongoing regional turmoil. (ILKHA)
