The campaign comes in response to the worsening humanitarian crisis caused by prolonged Israeli aggression on the region.
Cemil Cahit Ünsal, General Coordinator of the Orphans Foundation, emphasized the importance of solidarity in addressing the ongoing challenges. "This is not only a humanitarian responsibility but also a moral duty," he stated during his appeal for support.
The Foundation initially launched its campaign on October 7, 2023, raising 10 million TL, which was successfully delivered to Gaza. However, as the conflict continues and living conditions deteriorate, particularly with the onset of winter, the Foundation aims to provide more comprehensive assistance. This includes food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities for displaced families.
"Gaza is in dire need of support," Ünsal said. "The atrocities have lasted over a year, claiming the lives of tens of thousands of Muslims and displacing countless others. The region’s infrastructure is devastated, leaving many families without basic necessities."
Ünsal highlighted the resilience of Gaza’s people, calling on supporters to contribute to the campaign and back resistance efforts. "Our brothers and sisters in Gaza are showing incredible strength in the face of this oppression. We must stand by them through our support, both financial and moral."
In addition to direct aid, Ünsal stressed the importance of boycotting products from companies and countries supporting the occupation. "A boycott is a critical tool," he said. "By refusing to support these entities economically, we contribute to the resistance efforts indirectly."
The Orphans Foundation has called on philanthropists and donors to contribute to the campaign and share its message widely. Ünsal emphasized that the funds would address urgent needs while also providing hope to those enduring extreme hardship. "With collective action, we can make a significant impact. Let us not forget our brothers and sisters in Gaza during these difficult times."
The Foundation urged the public to remain engaged, contribute to ongoing relief efforts, and pray for an end to the suffering in Gaza. "We hope for a future where justice prevails, and the oppressed find relief," Ünsal concluded.
The campaign remains open, and donations can be made through the Foundation’s official channels (https://www.yetimlervakfi.org.tr). (ILKHA)
