The number of buildings, dwelling units, and floor area of buildings saw respective declines of 18.8%, 17.0%, and 18.9%, according to the permits issued by municipalities.

In Q3 2024, the total floor area of buildings for which construction permits were issued amounted to 32.0 million square meters. Of this, residential buildings accounted for 17.0 million square meters (53.1% of the total area), non-residential buildings for 8.2 million square meters, and common use areas for 6.8 million square meters. Two or more dwelling residential buildings had the highest floor area share with 21.2 million square meters, followed by industrial buildings and warehouses with 2.5 million square meters.

The floor area of buildings given occupancy permits decreased by 5.3% in Q3 2024 compared to the same period the previous year, despite a 2.9% increase in the number of buildings. The number of dwelling units and the floor area of buildings decreased by 3.1% and 5.3%, respectively. The total floor area for buildings with occupancy permits reached 22.5 million square meters, with residential buildings making up 12.4 million square meters (55.1% of the total area), non-residential buildings 5.6 million square meters, and common use areas 4.5 million square meters.

Two or more dwelling residential buildings also led in occupancy permit floor area share with 15.3 million square meters, followed by industrial buildings and warehouses with 1.8 million square meters. (ILKHA)
