Four armed assailants, wielding long-range firearms, attacked the Los Cantaritos bar in the city of Queretaro, according to Juan Luis Ferrusca, head of the local public security department.
The gunmen arrived at the bar and opened fire, leaving seven men and three women dead. Among the wounded, several are reported to be in critical condition. One suspect was arrested shortly after the attack, while the vehicle used by the attackers was found burned and abandoned nearby, Ferrusca stated in a social media announcement.
This violent incident follows a recent shootout between rival cartels late last month, which left 16 people dead, underscoring the escalating violence in parts of Mexico. The U.S. has urged Mexico to intensify efforts to curb cartel-related violence, as well as to address the flow of illegal drugs and firearms across the border. (ILKHA)
