Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the death toll has soared to 42,792, the majority being women and children. An additional 100,412 people have been wounded, many of them critically.
Rescue efforts remain severely hindered by ongoing airstrikes, widespread destruction, and fuel shortages, with thousands of victims still trapped beneath rubble or lying on the streets. Ambulance and civil defense teams have been unable to reach many areas due to continuous Israeli bombardments and the extensive damage to infrastructure.
Accurate casualty figures remain difficult to verify amid the destruction, as communication services are frequently cut, and Gaza’s infrastructure is decimated. With no fuel to power emergency services and no heavy equipment available, documenting the full scale of the disaster remains a challenge for local authorities.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to worsen as Israeli air raids intensify, adding to the growing toll on the besieged population. (ILKHA)
