The tremor, which was also felt in neighboring provinces, prompted a swift response from Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and other local institutions.
In a statement on his X social media account, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya addressed the situation, saying: "AFAD and all teams from our relevant institutions have begun field scans following the 5.9-magnitude earthquake in Kale district."
Minister Yerlikaya assured that authorities are closely monitoring developments in the region. "We are closely following the earthquake, which was also felt in neighboring provinces," he noted, extending his well-wishes to those affected by the seismic event.
"I wish our citizens affected by the earthquake get well soon. May God protect our country and nation from disasters," Yerlikaya added.
Emergency teams remain on alert as assessments continue, with no immediate reports of casualties or major damage. (ILKHA)
