The event was part of a series of solidarity marches held across more than 60 cities in Türkiye, demonstrating support for Palestine and opposition to the Zionist occupation regime.
Participants in Mersin waved Palestinian flags and carried banners bearing messages such as “Give voice to Gaza, protect Al-Aqsa Mosque,” while chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian cause and condemning Israeli actions.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Abdurrahman Erdem, followed by an opening speech by Hakan Ayçoban. A press statement was read by Murat Solak, who emphasized the severity of the situation in Gaza, stating, “The genocide in Gaza is on a scale comparable to a third World War. Weapons that were not used in the first and second World Wars are being deployed in Gaza."
Solak further called for military and logistical support for the Palestinian resistance, particularly HAMAS, and stressed the importance of protecting Gaza’s future and independence. He also drew historical parallels, noting, "We have a debt of loyalty to the people of Gaza, who stood with us in Gallipoli."
The event concluded with a prayer led by Ferhat Pınar, marking the end of the demonstration. (ILKHA)
