In a statement posted on the X platform, UNRWA highlighted the ongoing challenges facing school-aged children in Gaza, many of whom have been deeply traumatized by the Israeli aggression and are living in rubble. The agency also expressed concern over escalating violence in the West Bank, which is further impacting the lives and education of Palestinian children.
The UN agency noted that Palestinian children in both Gaza and the West Bank have endured immense hardship since the Israeli military aggression began nearly a year ago. The prolonged conflict has led to a significant deterioration in their mental and physical health.
Even prior to the war, many families in Gaza were struggling to provide adequate food for their children. Now, 12 months into the conflict, UNRWA has observed a sharp rise in cases of malnutrition, disease, and related deaths among children.
The situation continues to worsen, with widespread calls for urgent international intervention to provide humanitarian relief and support for the affected children and their families. (ILKHA)
