In a statement, the Ministry confirmed that the repayments were made “in accordance with the decision of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” with 910 million Afghanis paid to the World Bank and around 1.9 billion Afghanis repaid to the Asian Development Bank.
The Ministry also highlighted that funds from the national budget have been allocated in the current fiscal year (1403) for the repayment of further debts to foreign institutions. These repayments will be made as per the requests of the lending institutions and the directives of the Islamic Emirate’s leadership.
The Ministry emphasized that over the past three years, the Islamic Emirate has not borrowed from any foreign country or institution. Instead, efforts have been focused on settling outstanding debts from the previous administration, ensuring Afghanistan remains debt-free under the current leadership. (ILKHA)
