On Tuesday, the Manipur government imposed a ban on Internet services across five districts of the Imphal Valley and enacted a curfew in two districts. The measures were implemented as students clashed with security forces for the second consecutive day, demonstrating against what they perceive as the government's inadequate response to the escalating violence.

During the protests, students attempted to breach the Raj Bhavan and the Chief Minister’s residence, which are located within 200 meters of each other. Police used force to disperse the crowds, resulting in injuries to over 50 students. The more seriously injured individuals were taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal. Among them was a girl who was admitted to the intensive care unit.

The situation remains tense as the state grapples with renewed hostilities and escalating unrest. (ILKHA)
