According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 68 people have died and 786 homes have been damaged since the start of the monsoon season.

The most recent incident occurred in the Kumrat Valley of Upper Dir district, where a landslide triggered by heavy rains killed all 12 members of a single family. The victims included nine children, two women, and one man.

The ongoing rains have also caused widespread damage in the tourist region of Kumrat, with hotels, restaurants, homes, and crops being destroyed by flash floods. The main road leading to Kumrat was washed away, isolating the area.

Authorities are struggling to cope with the devastation caused by the monsoon rains, and rescue efforts are ongoing. The provincial government has appealed for assistance in rescuing stranded people and recovering from the damage. (ILKHA)
