At the opening ceremony of Çukurova International Airport, President Erdoğan lauded the new infrastructure as a transformative investment for the Adana and Mersin regions, as well as the broader Mediterranean area. He highlighted the airport's potential to enhance passenger and cargo transportation, which he described as a key driver of regional development.
Erdoğan stated: “In addition to passenger transportation, our airport will also have a multiplier effect on the exports of the region. We are proud to have built such a facility in our country, which will be the engine of development in Adana and Mersin, as well as the entire Mediterranean region.”
The airport is expected to facilitate the export of goods from major industrial and trade zones, including Mersin Port, Mersin and Adana Organized Industrial Zones, Iskenderun Bay Industrial Facilities, and the Yumurtalık Free Zone. This development aims to open regional businesses to global markets, enhance export potential, and improve competitiveness.
Erdoğan emphasized that the airport will enable faster delivery of urgent materials, support uninterrupted supply chains, and bolster economic growth. He also noted the significant benefits for agriculture, with Çukurova’s produce now able to reach markets more efficiently and with reduced risk of spoilage.
Erdoğan’s speech underscored the strategic importance of Çukurova International Airport in fostering regional development and enhancing Turkey's economic capabilities. The facility is anticipated to play a crucial role in expanding trade and improving logistical efficiency in the Mediterranean region. (ILKHA)
