In a statement on X, Yılmaz highlighted the significant advancements made in Türkiye's domestic and national defense industry over the past two decades under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's leadership. He reiterated the administration's commitment to pursuing further goals in this sector.
"Today, the Defense Industry Executive Committee has discussed and decided on the Steel Dome project, which we are developing domestically and nationally. This project ensures that our layered air defense systems and all our sensors and weapons work integrated with each other under a network structure, create a common aerial picture, deliver it to operation centers in real-time, and present it to decision-makers with artificial intelligence support," Yılmaz stated.
He described the decision as historic and expressed his hopes for its success.
The Vice President underscored the importance of balancing diplomatic efforts with robust defense strategies. "While using all the means of diplomacy for regional and global stability and peace, we are determined to move our country to a much stronger position against all kinds of threats," he added.
The Steel Dome project is part of a broader strategy to enhance Türkiye's air defense capabilities and secure its position in the face of evolving regional and global threats. (ILKHA)
