This proposal, which has been accepted for discussion in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), aims to confiscate assets and revoke the citizenship of Turkish dual citizens who participate in the genocide in Gaza.

Since the genocidal Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, nearly 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, including at least 15,700 children and 10,333 women, with over 88,000 injured. It has been revealed that some dual citizens with Turkish passports are involved in these attacks. These revelations brought the issue to the TBMM's agenda last week.

HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu addressed the General Assembly, demanding that the TBMM be granted the authority to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in genocide, a power currently held by the Ministry of Justice. Yapıcıoğlu summarized the law proposal, stating: "It envisages that murderers who commit genocide wherever they are in the world, no matter what religion and nation they belong to, will be tried and punished in Turkey. Those who do not obey the call of 'return home' among those who are dual citizens will be deprived of citizenship within three months, and their assets will be confiscated."

The "Law on Amending the Citizenship Law" proposal by HÜDA PAR was accepted for discussion in the TBMM General Assembly last week. Support for the proposal continues to grow across various segments of society. Officials from NGOs that are members of the Gaziantep Jerusalem Platform and Volunteer Organizations Platform, who support the law proposal, are visiting political parties in the city to garner further support.

The Gaziantep Al-Quds Platform and Volunteer Organizations Platform visited the Felicity Party's Provincial Presidency after meeting with HÜDA PAR officials. The NGOs officials were welcomed by Mehmet Islam, the party's provincial chairman, who expressed their support for the draft law.

This proposal aims to strip citizenship from dual citizens who traveled to the occupation regime and participated in the genocide in Gaza, confiscate their property, and sentence them to life imprisonment.

Platform officials emphasized the importance of enacting this bill for taking concrete steps to stop the genocide in Gaza. They called on all parties in the TBMM and all segments of society to support the bill on "genocide."

Mehmet Islam reiterated the Felicity Party's support for the draft law and expressed hope that it would be enacted as soon as possible. (ILKHA)
