Altun condemned the July 15, 2016 coup attempt as "one of the most treacherous uprisings" in Turkish and global history. He denounced it as a "betrayal" of democracy orchestrated by a "terrorist organization" aligned with "global imperialism."
However, Altun emphasized the events of July 15th also represented a "Victory of the Nation." He credited the Turkish people's response to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call to resist the coup attempt for defeating it.
Altun stressed the Presidency's commitment to ensuring the "truth" about July 15th is accurately documented for future generations and internationally recognized.
He further pledged that Turkey, under President Erdoğan's leadership, would continue to oppose "injustices of the global system" and advocate for the oppressed. Altun specifically condemned the actions of Israel, calling them "genocide and war crimes."
The speech comes during ongoing commemorations of the failed coup attempt, which the Turkish government attributes to the Gülen Movement, also known as FETO.
The event commemorated the resilience and unity of the Turkish people in the face of the July 15 coup attempt, reinforcing the nation's dedication to upholding democracy and justice. (ILKHA)
