Hamas highlighted the severe food shortages and humanitarian aid restrictions as contributing factors to the worsening crisis in the enclave. The Movement detailed that the Gaza Strip is experiencing escalating famine due to the limited amount of humanitarian aid allowed through border crossings and Israel’s continued blockade.
“Our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are facing an escalation in the brutal starvation war, worsening humanitarian catastrophe, and signs of famine, especially in Gaza City and the northern governorates,” the Hamas statement read.
The Movement attributed the dire situation to the “closure of crossings by the (Israeli) occupation, the limited number of aid trucks allowed to enter, and the oppressive siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, especially after the occupation’s seizure of the Rafah crossing and its closure to the movement of individuals and aid.”
Hamas called on Arab and Islamic countries, along with the international community, to exert pressure on Israel to cease its actions in Gaza and to open border crossings to alleviate the suffering of Gazans.
The situation in Gaza remains critical, with humanitarian conditions deteriorating rapidly as the blockade continues to restrict essential supplies and aid from reaching the population. (ILKHA)
