Neighborhood Resistance Committees in Madani reported that the RSF attacked the village twice, resulting in the deaths of nearly 100 civilians. Videos released by the committees show the burial of dozens of victims in a public square.
The Resistance Committees allege that the RSF has been raiding villages in Al-Jazira since taking control late last year. These raids involve violence against unarmed residents, including killings, kidnappings, forced displacement, and looting.
In response to the escalating violence, residents of Al-Jazira have reportedly called for arms to defend themselves against the RSF. The National Umma Party has condemned the attacks on civilians and called for an end to the ongoing violence.
The Resistance Committees also report that the RSF is offering protection to villages in exchange for residents joining their ranks. This offer is reportedly seen as unwelcome by local communities who rely on agriculture and trade, livelihoods already disrupted by the violence.
The situation in Al-Jazira remains tense. The RSF's actions have sparked outrage and fear among residents, with calls for accountability and an end to the violence. (ILKHA)
