The explosions occurred on Friday in the camps located in Lac Vert and Mugunga, near the city of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province, according to a statement from the UN.
The UN condemned the attacks, stating that they were a "flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law and may constitute a war crime." At least 20 people were injured in the bombings.
Local sources revealed that many of the victims were asleep in their tents when the area was targeted in the attacks.
The incident highlights the ongoing insecurity and humanitarian crisis faced by displaced populations in the conflict-affected region of eastern DR Congo. (ILKHA)
