The cyclists rode through the university campus carrying Palestinian and Tawhid flags, chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian cause. The event culminated in a press statement delivered by Abdulaziz Goma, an Egyptian computer engineering student.
Goma's statement condemned the actions of Israel, calling them a "Zionist terror organization" and urging Bingöl University students to join a "global intifada" against what they perceive as a "global demonic order."
The statement also praised student movements around the world who have spoken out in support of Palestine and called on Bingöl University students to take similar action.
The event comes amid ongoing israeli genocide in Gaza. The cyclists' message reflects a wider sentiment of support for Palestine among some student groups in Turkey.
The full text of the press statement is as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah.
Peace be to our prophet Muhammad and his family, and to all the believers who resist the war on earth. Peace be upon those who are guided.
"Prepare against Allah and your enemies, and those who are behind them, and who you do not know, and whom Allah knows, as many horses of war as you have at your disposal, so that you may fear them. Whatever you spend in the way of Allah, it will be repaid to you at a rate without any injustice whatsoever.” (Enfal: 60)
Dear Bingöl University students:
The Zionist terror organization has been trying to occupy Palestine for a century. It has been cruelly attacking the people of Gaza for about seven months. The cries of babies and children rising to the sky in Palestine, the suffering of thousands of innocent children murdered; The Throne made the procession tremble and it descended from the Throne to the Farsh as the decree of the earth's devils and tyrants. And conscientious people all over the world ignited the fire of a revolution to revive the honor of humanity that had fallen into the swamp. This fire of revolution illuminates the horizons of all countries and nations from hand to hand.
These actions in support of the Palestinian case are a justified rebellion against the global demonic order represented by Zionism.
Our colleagues at the most respected universities in many parts of the Western world, including America and France, rose up to support the fire of rebellion and chose to be part of the global intifada. Many academics and students have supported this case. The fire of the Intifada has affected everybody with a heart in their arms. Despite all the measures and pressures, the riots among honorable youth and academics were out of control. The arrest of thousands of students and academics hasn't changed the outcome.
From here, we greet these honorable academics and students.
Dear academics and students of Bingöl University, rise up and build the rights of this chain of humanity. Participate in this human revolution. Let your hearts strike for this trial, let your tongue speak this case, and let your pencil write this case. At a time when humanity is divided, join the ranks of saints and free people and carry the glory of the global intifada as a medal. May this honor be passed on to the generations after you. Let your children and grandchildren say to you, "They were great men." Instead of sitting like a bird with a broken heart, be like the prophet Abraham, who threw stones at the devils of the earth.
Greetings to the global intifada and to the brave hearts and free spirits who embrace this intifada.
Finally.
If there are Jewish hands touching the nation and mankind, then there are the brave ones who oppose them.
Our request from our Allah is that this step taken by our martyr will destroy the throne of oppression and end the spectatorship of the Islamic world.
We will do whatever we can to ensure that Gaza is not forgotten; it is certainly not our morality to remain silent to this while a dagger is stuck in the bosom of humanity and Islam.
The victory belongs to those who believe, and the struggle belongs to the patient! (ILKHA)
