Yapıcıoğlu wrote on his social media account that he was saddened to hear about the passing of Al-Zindani, who was considered the Yemeni leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. Al-Zindani had been living in exile in Turkey.

"May my Lord treat him with mercy. May his place be heaven and his place be honoured," Yapıcıoğlu wrote. "I wish patience and peace to his family, students and friends."

Born in 1942, Abdul Majeed al-Zindani was a prominent figure in Yemen's Islamic movement. He left a significant mark by founding Al-Iman University, a major institution in the country.  His influence extended beyond Yemen with the establishment of the International Commission for Scientific Miracles in the Qur'an and Sunnah in Mecca. He also held a leadership position within Yemen's Islamist party, the Yemeni Congregation for Reform, serving as the head of its Shura Council.

Al-Zindani faced accusations from the US of supporting terrorism due to his involvement in the Afghan jihad period against the Soviets.

While he previously resided in Saudi Arabia, al-Zindani spent his final years in Turkey, having moved there in 2020. This move coincided with a period when Saudi Arabia lifted a travel ban imposed on him, from 2017 to 2020. (ILKHA)
